Unite SMEs, Better Together ─ Chairman 's Dedication
Nearly two years ago, I completed my mission as the president of the Hong Kong Footwear Association. Today, I have continued to serve as the 9th chairman of the Hong Kong (SME) Economic and Trade Promotional Association. First of all, I would like to thank my dear friend, Mr CHEUNG Tsin Wong, the honorable and respected Permanent Honorary Chairman of SMEs. He invited me to join the SME family four years ago, and has been closely connected with this family. I am very grateful to Chairman CHEUNG and Chairman LAM for their trust, as well as the support of the members!
Under the epidemic of Coronavirus (COVID-19), I take over as the chairman. In addition to being deeply honored, I also feel that I am entrusted with a mission at a critical and difficult moment. I am under great pressure and shoulder heavy responsibilities. I was fortunate to have the encouragement and guidance from the previous chairman, and the great help from other members. The reorganization of the 9th Council is gratifying. Most directors continue to hold positions, and several industry elites have also joined. Everyone works hard to serve the association, which makes me very moved and courageous. I would like to praise the directors!
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Chairman LAM Wai Sang for his great contributions to the association in the past four years. I also thank CHEUNG Tsin Wong Permanent Honorary Chairman for his enthusiastic guidance on association affairs. It is said that the predecessors paved the way for the convenience of future generations. In recent years, the development of our association has become more and more prosperous. We enjoy a high reputation and is widely recognized in the political and business circles of Hong Kong and Mainland. The number of members has expanded from Hong Kong to the Greater Bay Area and increased to more than 500. It is due to the leadership of the previous chairman and the directors, as well as the joint efforts and long-term support of all members. The epidemic of Coronavirus has brought unprecedented shocks to the world and Hong Kong's economy. We must fight adversity and meet challenges. It takes great courage to face and accept challenges for our SMEs to solve the current difficulties. As the chairman of the association, my philosophy is to unite the SMEs, respond to demands, build a platform, and help members. In the past four years, I have benefited a lot from participating in SME association affairs. I have been thinking about the development and direction of the association. I look forward to do my best for the development of members and association affairs.
My vision is to build a complete platform for the association to meet the current continuous development needs. The association needs to change according to different periods, in order to continuously improve while we continue to develop, help members and promote the development of SMEs!
With the advancement of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area planning, it will bring unlimited business opportunities for Hong Kong SMEs, as well as greater space and development prospects for the deep integration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. Moreover, the association has a clear business direction and is seeking support from the Hong Kong Government’s TSF Fund to lead members and industry to enter the Greater Bay Area, promote economic and trade activities, promote Hong Kong brands and competitive industries, connect exchanges and seek cooperation, and jointly expand the Bay Area to the mainland market. I look forward to all SMEs and young entrepreneur to seize the development opportunities of the new era, integrate and participate in the construction of the Bay Area as soon as possible, find their own development positions, and share the prosperity of the Bay Area.
